Türkiye Includes Astrotourism in Development Plans

According to a report published in CNBC-e, Türkiye is taking important steps to integrate astroturism into official tourism policies. The development plans, prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, aim to identify areas free from light pollution and encourage astro-tourism. In this context, Türkiye's first dark sky park is planned to be announced. This park will become a centre that will attract both domestic and foreign tourists by providing the most suitable conditions for sky observation.

Astrotourism stands out as one of the rapidly growing alternative tourism types worldwide. Such tourism activities, which are carried out in regions away from light pollution, offer a sustainable and unique experience in touch with nature. Türkiye's geographical location and its low light pollution areas can make Turkey a competitive destination in this field.

Contribution of Dark Sky Tour

Kadir Uluç, co-founder of Dark Sky Tour, shared his views on the development and importance of astrotourism in Türkiye. Uluç emphasised that the increasing light pollution with today's modern urbanisation makes it difficult to observe the sky, but that astrotourism can be transformed into a great tourism opportunity with the right strategies. Stating that Türkiye has very favourable regions in terms of sky observation, Uluç said that our country can become an important player in astrotourism by making use of this potential.

As Dark Sky Tour, we are carrying out various projects to contribute to the development of astrotourism in Türkiye. We aim to raise awareness and promote astrotourism through sky observation events and training programmes, especially in regions far away from light pollution. In addition, we continue to promote sustainable tourism practices through public and private sector collaborations.
